I Can't Believe Draymond Green Actually Said This To LeBron's Face
[The Shop/ESPN] - Golden State Warriors big man Draymond Green said James “found himself” over the past four years and that the Lakers’ new star “should” believe he’s the best player in the NBA. Green’s Warriors have beaten James’ teams in three of the past four NBA Finals.
“I think you should say that. I think you should believe that,” Green said in reference to the idea that James is the best player in the NBA. “And you should definitely let the world know that. I think Bron over the last four years became LeBron James. And it wasn’t nothing to do with winning, and it wasn’t nothing to do with stats. He found himself. People didn’t start to view him as they view him now, until he became that force, that man to say, ‘I’m here.’ I feel like for years he shied away from saying, ‘I’m here.’ And when he started to say, ‘F— y’all, I’m here,’ that’s when he became who he is, and no one would have ever said that until he did it himself.”
This is from LeBron’s show The Shop which was aired yesterday. He had a back and forth with a bunch of different athletes, but that’s irrelevant. Despite talking about social issues and some life issues with Odell Beckham, which was very real and very open conversation, I can’t believe Draymond said this.
I mean think about Draymond Green. He’s known for being this uber-competitive, fuck everyone else, Golden State vs the world type guy. Think what you want about him, that’s a pretty general consensus in the basketball world when it comes to him. He doesn’t typically compliment anyone, let alone someone on the other team.
Now he’s out here telling LeBron he’s the best person in the league and needs to start saying that out loud? Personally, I just hope this makes Kevin Durant create a few burner accounts and start attacking Draymond Green and creating a rift in the locker room. I need something that petty to happen to break up the Warriors.
The thing here is obviously Draymond isn’t wrong. LeBron is the best player in the league. That’s not really a debate unless you’re purposely trying to start an argument. It’s LeBron then Durant then pick whoever. That’s just pretty obvious. But, I am a bit surprised to hear Draymond say it publicly and so defiantly. Maybe he’s on to something here though with LeBron finding himself. This past season was one of his best as he slapped up 27.5/9.1/8.6, shooting 36% from three and a 28.6 PER.
Guess it’s time for me to find myself and tell the world ‘I’m here.’ Did it work? I don’t think so.
